nc Nancy Copping has lived in Alaska since 1984.  She taught elementary school in the Mat-Su Valley for 18 years and was an elementary principal for 2 years.  In 2004 she retired from serving in public education.  Since retiring, she has volunteered as a local PTA secretary, the Region 3 Vice President for Alaska PTA, the Reflections Chair for her local school, and the Health and Safety Chair for Alaska PTA, and is currently the Vice President of Programs. 

In addition to her PTA work, she has been a member of the Mat-Su School District Wellness Committee, the Mat-Su Anti-Substance Abuse Coalition, the Mat-Su Parent Advisory Committee, and the Alaska State School Health and Safety Committee.

Mrs. Copping also has spent many years helping with her local youth soccer league, church youth activities, and volunteering in her children’s classrooms.  In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, doing family history research, writing, traveling, sewing, playing the piano, and cooking. 

Nancy moved to Utah in August of 2008, but plans to continue to serve as the Alaska PTA Vice President of Programs “from a distance.”
