Awards:
Phoebe Apperson Hearst-National PTA Excellence in Education Partnership Award
The Phoebe Apperson Hearst-National PTA Excellence in Education Partnership Award will honor PTAs that demonstrate a commitment to parent/family involvement and excellence in education partnerships. The award is supported by an endowment funded by the William Randolph Hearst Foundations.
Goal of the Award
To recognize PTA units whose collaborative efforts with parents, families, educators, and community members promote parent/family involvement with ongoing programs that encourage student success.

The Parent Involvement Schools of Excellence Certification recognizes schools whose parent involvement programs are based on the National Standards for Parent/Family Involvement Programs.
This certification is designed to help schools in the nation assess their parent involvement practices, make improvements where needed, and earn one of two distinctions:
Alaska has two schools who have received the Certificate of Excellence:
Alaska had one school who has received the Recognition of Commitment:

PTA Life Achievement Award

2008 Mary Lou Anderson Reflections Arts Enhancement Grant Program
Could you use up to $1,000 to enhance your Reflections Program? National PTA is offering matching grants of up to $1,000 to local PTAs for student-centered programs focused on arts education. The grant money is provided to enhance arts education for students in the classroom or other learning environments through materials; introduction of new technologies, techniques, or methods; visiting artists; or programs, such as visiting artists in the schools. These grants are offered each year; the deadline to apply is May 1.

My Wonderful World
The goal of the five-year, multimedia campaign—My Wonderful World—is to improve the geographic literacy of young people ages 8-17 by motivating parents and educators to expand geographic offerings in school, at home and in their communities. The campaign is led by National Geographic.
